Arsenal have handed German starlet Daniel Hanslik a trial and could be set to sign the midfielder this summer, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has been pictured at London Colney alongside Germany internationals Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi.
Also in the photograph is Mustafi’s father, Kujtim, who represents Hanslik which has increased speculation the Gunners are preparing to hand the midfielder a deal.
The youngster is highly-rated and has previously been linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund who have a great record of bringing through youngsters and recently signed Swedish wonderkid Alexander Isak.
Arsenal’s interest in Hanslik makes sense and a move for the midfielder could be prudent, particularly if he goes on to fulfil his undoubted potential at the club.
The Gunners also signed Cohen Bramall in January, from non-league Hednesford Town, who is with the Under-23 squad with big things also expected of the full-back.
However, while Hanslik and Bramall clearly have big futures in the game, Wenger also must focus on bringing quality players to the squad if the club are to seriously challenge for silverware.
Tuesday’s defeat to Watford has left Arsenal nine points off Chelsea and anything other than victory against the Blues on Saturday will see their title hopes over for another season. Defeat against Chelsea could also see the Gunners drop out of the top four, should Liverpool and Manchester City both win, leaving their hopes of Champions League qualification for next season under threat especially considering the form of the other clubs around them.
February also sees the resumption of the Champions League and a daunting looking round of 16 tie with Bayern Munich the favourites to progress.
Arsenal are reliant on the form of Alexis Sanchez, in particular, and Mesut Ozil although both men are in the last 18 months of their current deals and still to commit their futures to the club.
The duo are crucial to Arsenal’s hopes of success, and need to be tied down as soon as possible, but Wenger must also focus on bringing quality, as well as youth, to the club.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of top stars recently such as Antoine Griezmann, Alvaro Morata and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and simply have to invest if they are to claim glory in the Premier League or in Europe.
