Highly rated youngster Stephy Mavididi could potentially make his debut for the Arsenal first team in the EFL Cup encounter against Southampton on Wednesday night.
Arsenal prepare to square off against Southampton in the quarter final of the EFL Cup clash on Wednesday night and one can be sure that the Gunners will be desperate to claim a victory from the encounter.
That said though, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expected to rest a host of his first team regulars for the match and a number of fringe as well as youth team players could be featuring on the night.
Carl Jenkinson, Rob Holding, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Krystian Bielik are just some of the young players expected to be lining up for Arsenal during the encounter and it has now emerged that even Stephy Mavididi could be involved in the first team in midweek.
Mavididi is a talented young striker who has been creating waves for the development side in recent times and 18-year-old is touted to break into the first team in the foreseeable future.
Now it looks like Mavididi will be handed his entry to the senior side quicker than anticipated after he was pictured training with the first team on Tuesday and with Olivier Giroud ruled out for the clash, the teenage sensation is expected to be named on the bench for the clash.
Other than Mavididi, the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Marc Bola and Ismael Bennacer were all involved in training as well and there is a strong possibility that the aforementioned three youngsters could also be named in the squad for the clash against Southampton by Wenger.
