£34m Rated Star Rejects Manchester United, Set For Surprise Arsenal Move Instead

According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Bayern Munich star David Alaba would prefer to join Arsenal rather than Manchester United.

Since breaking into the Bayern Munich first team back in 2010, Alaba has managed to establish himself as a regular for the Bavarian giants and he is now considered among one of the best full-backs in world football at the moment.

Given Alaba’s wonderful talent, a host of clubs would surely love to be able to call on the services of the defender and Premier League giants Manchester United were believed to be readying a swoop for the Austrian international.

With the likes of Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw failing to impress, Manchester United are currently in the market to sign a new left sided full-back and it is believed that manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful of luring Alaba to Old Trafford to strengthen in that particular area of the pitch.

A fee of around £34 million had been mooted and the defender’s transfer to Old Trafford coming into fruition was seen as a real possibility.

As a huge blow for United in their hopes of signing Alaba though, the Manchester Evening News have gone on to claim that the 24-year-old prefers a move to Arsenal rather than the Red Devils.

According to the reports, Alaba is a boyhood Arsenal fan and if the Austrian international were to leave Bayern Munich, the Gunners would be their only option. If indeed such claims are true, Arsenal will most certainly look to make a move to secure the services of Alaba.

Current first choice left-back Nacho Monreal has performed well over the past few seasons but there is no doubting that Alaba would be a wonderful addition and a fee of £34 million is more than reasonable for a player of his caliber.
