Chief Mirror writer John Cross has claimed that Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez has already made up his mind to leave the north London outfit during the summer transfer window. “I think Sanchez will go,” said Cross. “His mind’s made up. I think there’s big clubs in for him – PSG, Juventus as well.”
The links between the Chile international and teams such as PSG and Juventus are nothing new; however, news that Sanchez has “made his mind up” are more than a bit worrisome for Arsenal fans around the globe. Sanchez has arguably been the Premier League’s top performer so far this season, and without a doubt the club’s best and more important player.
Sanchez still has one more year left on his contract following the current campaign, and the Arsenal brass should do everything they can to hold on to their main man past the summer transfer window. With 20 goals, and 13 assists in all competitions so far, there’s no doubting just how vital the Chilean is to the Gunners. Imagine where Arsenal would be on the table if not for the goals and assists of the former Barca star?
Along with Sanchez, the Gunners also have contract issues with both Mesut Ozil and manager Arsene Wenger. Cross believes Ozil is much more likely to sign a contract extension in the near future and remain with the club, but Wenger’s future is very much up in the air at the moment.
It appears that Sanchez and Wenger have a decent relationship; however, if the Frenchman were to leave at the end of the current campaign, Arsenal should do everything they can to pry Jorge Sampaoli away from Sevilla. Not only is the former Chile manager a fantastic coach, but his relationship with Sanchez could give the Gunners a massive boost in their chances to re-sign the striker to a long-term deal.
