We have a huge game in Premier League against Chelsea on Saturday. Both teams are currently level on points and already five points behind leaders Manchester City.
A defeat tomorrow would certainly leave us trailing City by a huge margin this early in the season which is something we definitely don’t want.
Besides, we have had a pretty bad run of results against the Blues, but we have a decent chance to stop that run tomorrow. They did a double over us last season, and we will be looking to rectify last season’s results tomorrow.
Arsene Wenger gave a press conference ahead of the game yesterday and provided latest injury updates. There were only a couple of injury updates in the press conference.
Wenger revealed that Olivier Giroud would undergo a late fitness test ahead of the game. The Frenchman has missed our last couple of games with a toe injury.
Meanwhile, midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not expected back before the international break. Wenger said: “I don’t think Ramsey will be available before the international break”.
The Wales international has been missing in action since injuring his hamstrings on the opening day.
He is reportedly recovering from a small grade one Hamstring injury. He was expected to be back following the international break, but his recovery has taken a bit longer than expected. Wenger revealed that he is taking a cautious approach with Ramsey and the Wales international will not report for national duty during the next international break.
Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck remain our long-term injury concerns, but Wenger provided no updates on them.
To be honest, there is not much going on at the injury-front at our club at the moment, and that’s a good feeling to have. We are not missing any of our injured players at the moment, and that’s a testament to the strength in depth at our club.
We have a lot of options in our squad at the moment, and that will certainly reduce the impact of injuries on our results over the course of the season. This was not the case in the past few seasons, and it just gets to show how much our team have improved in last few seasons.
