Spanish journalist Anton Meana claims that Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz wants a move to Arsenal.
Diaz has made a huge impact in the Real Madrid reserve teams over the past few years before his promotion to the first XI this season.
The Dominican international made his debut against Celta Vigo in August following an injury to Karim Benzema. He also appeared in the Champions League group stage match against Legia Warsaw.
More recently, he took a starring role in 13 – 2 aggregate win over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa in the Copa Del Rey. In just 117 minutes over the two legs, he grabbed four goals including a hat-trick in the second match.
Diaz is an extremely talented young striker but like other youngsters, the attacker will struggle to earn regular first team football at Madrid.
He knows he won’t take Bale or Ronaldo’s place in the side. With Isco, James and Benzema vying for the XI, breaking into the side is a tall order.
A move away from Madrid might be in his best interests to continue his development as a player. Given his talents, a host of clubs across Europe will chase the former Badalona star.
Arsenal On Diaz’s Trail?
Premier League giants Arsenal are interested in Diaz. Spanish journalist Anton Meana believes the Dominican Republic international would consider an offer from the Gunners.
“[Mariano] said that, unless he gets an offer he wouldn’t be able to turn down, like Arsenal, he will stay and doesn’t want to leave in January.” Quote translated by 90min.com.
Diaz knows the way to goal and Arsenal need to strengthen their attack.
A move to Arsenal would provide him a wonderful opportunity to earn regular first team football at a top club. In addition, Arsène Wenger is an expert in turning promise into world-class talent.
With Diaz’s talent and Wenger’s coaching, there is no reason why the predator will not flourish at the Emirates.
