In a news that will not go down well with Arsenal fans the world over, Wenger has confirmed Arsenal star Hector Bellerin is injured and out of the Champions League clash against Ludogorets tomorrow.
According to daily mirror, the player has merely been rested for the clash but Wenger in his press conference confirmed the Spaniard has suffered a minor injury in training today. The former Barca star has been one of Arsenal’s most reliable players in the last one year and his absence, if prolonged, can derail yet another Arsenal title challenge.
Although Arsenal have Jenkinson to call upon, fact is, Bellerin is more reliable and more suited to Arsenal’s attacking play. The real worry is, many times when Arsenal claim a player has suffered a minor injury, the said player ends up missing several weeks of action.
An example of such is Aaron Ramsey who in August was thought to be out for just three weeks but ended up spending two months on the sideline. In recent times Cazorla was thought to have suffered a minor foot injury but two weeks later he is not even training not to talk of playing for the team. We simply can’t cope for too long without Bellerin. He is our Mr reliable.
It could however be that Wenger has chosen to rest the Spaniard for the Tottenham clash as Mirror seems to be hinting at. But it won’t surprise me if misses the North London derby as well. When it comes to Arsenal and injuries, one should ALWAYS expect the worst.
Certainly, the game against Tottenham is far more important than the game against Ludogorets. We should be able to beat the Bulgarians without Bellerin, Walcott and Cazorla who have also not traveled with the team.
But having all of them back for Tottenham is important if we must get the three maximum points.
