Robin van Persie

“New Robin Van Persie” Wanted By Arsenal But Could Join Liverpool For £19.5m

With Olivier Giroud already 30 and considered not good enough for a title winning side, Sanchez yet to sign a new contract with his current deal expiring soon, Walcott looking like he is better off on the right flank and Perez looking like a mistake, it is no surprise that Arsenal have continued to get linked with the signing of one striker to the other.

This time, according to reports, Arsenal are interested in signing highly rated Torino striker Andrea Belotti who is said to be available for about £21.5 million. The highly rated striker has been likened to former Arsenal star Robin Van Persie. However, Liverpool is reported to have entered the race for the signing of the very profilic goalscorer and will hope a bid of £19.5 million will be enough to beat us to the signing of the 22-year-old striker.

The rumour first started with Italian site, Calciomercatoweb and has since been reported by other websites including Liverpool’s official website. The fact that other media reports are citing Italian site, Calciomercatoweb as their source and Calciomercatoweb are not known to be reliable when it comes to transfer stories shows the report may just be one of those transfer stories.

In five serie A games so far this season, Andrea Belotti has scored five and created one assist which makes the reports linking him with a move to both Arsenal and Liverpool less surprising.

And if the reports of Arsenal and Liverpool being interested in the player is true, it will remain to be seen who will win the race for his signature. Especially with both Arsenal and Liverpool seem to be in the same position on the striker front. However, Torino are very unlikely to sell one of their best players, if not the best so far this season, half way through the season which means a deal is more likely to be done in the summer than in the winter transfer window.

  1. Why is Perez looking like a mistake?
He has only played a couple of times and you see fit to pass judgement.
    Absolutely ridiculous comment.

  2. I agree Mike. Very sorry statement that Perez is a mistake yet he’s not gotten game time to prove his worth. So far he has 2 goals from 1 game…
Gooners can be a wee bit impatient with their players but in all fairness Perez hasn’t shown he’s a mistake.
    Dhaka might be one though…
