Bellerin To Sign New Arsenal Contract – Agent

Barca have been told to go and do one as their key target Hector Bellerin will soon be putting pen to paper on a new contract with Arsenal. This much has been confirmed by the player’s agent himself and reported by major outlets such as Skysport and Guardian which means the quotes are unlikely to be fake.

Bellerin has in the last few months been linked with a return to Barcelona. A situation that many Arsenal fans including myself have not been comfortable with. Thing is, Barca are more attractive than us and if they want Bellerin and the young Spaniard also wants to return home, it may be difficult for us to keep him. The situation is even made worst by the fact that he has just less than two years to run on his contract.

Talking to Guardian, the player’s agent Albert Botines has now confirmed his client will sign a new contract with Arsenal believed to be a new 5-years deal.

“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign,” Skysport who are also citing Guardian quoted Botines as saying.

“Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”

The Times had scared many Arsenal fans few days ago when it claimed Arsenal has offered Bellerin a new five years contract with wage offer of £100,000 a week which the player will reject. Fortunately it appears the Times report was way of the mark and Bellerin will in fact sign the said contract.

This is actually good news for Arsenal and also indicative of how much times has changed. In the past, we will most certainly have lost Bellerin to Barca because they have more money to spend than us but thanks to the good work the club has done, we now are also able to match the wage offers of other clubs ( to some extent ) and are looking like a team finally able to win titles. We simply just need to keep the core of our team and make few additions here and there.

Hopefully the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will now follow suit and sign an extention to their own contracts too. These players form the core of our team and we need them if we want to finally break the Premier League draught.
